Woman in 30s Hit by Car in Carlsbad
CARLSBAD (August 7, 2017)- According to the San Diego Union Tribune, a woman was seriously injured after being by a car Saturday evening at the intersection of Carlsbad Village Drive and Jefferson Street.
Authorities were notified of the collision at 9:10 p.m. when a woman in her 30s was hit as she crossed the intersection within the means of a marked crosswalk by a 2010 Hyundai Elantra.
The unidentified victim was thrown up on to the hood of the vehicle and moderately injured with undisclosed injuries.
Carlsbad FD arrived at the scene as did paramedics to transport the woman to a nearby hospital as her condition has not been updated at this time.
Carlsbad Police will handle the investigation.
Based on this news report, it appears that the driver will be held responsible for the injuries incurred to the woman in this incident. California pedestrian laws read that any driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other action relating to the operation of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.
