Chan Kee Chung, 58, Victim in Deadly Accident
SHANDON (July 25, 2018)- According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, Chan Kee Chung, 58, of Rowland Heights, has been identified as the man fatally injured in a tragic collision Wednesday near the Cholame Y.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a deadly head-on collision involving a military Humvee vehicle was reported this morning on Highway 46 near the Davis Road intersection.
Authorities disclosed that the crash occurred at 7:43 a.m. precisely between the Humvee and 2000 Acura TL.
Military Humvee Vehicle Had Tire Blow Out Before Crashing Into Victim
According to KEYT news, a 49-year old Army Reserve Sergeant was driving a military Humvee when he apparently experienced a possible tire blow out causing the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic lanes directly into the path of the sedan. As per the article, the passenger of the tactical vehicle, a 24-year old Army Reserve Specialist, and the driver both suffered minor injuries and transported to the Twin Cities Hospital after the wreck.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Acura, Chan Kee Chung, tragically suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Westbound lanes remained shut down for several hours while both Cal Trans and CHP officials remained on scene.
