In this case, Daniel Warner is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs which is considered a serious crime. DUIs have corresponding criminal penalties and the charges ultimately filed on a suspect depend on factors including the prior convictions, the severity of the offense, the level of intoxication, and the injuries caused to another individual.
It is apparent that the suspect has been negligent and caused the collision that injured his 19-year-old passenger at the time. A victim involved in a traffic collision has the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against an at-fault party, seeking compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
