4 Injured in Escondido Accident on Highway 78
ESCONDIDO, California (April 2, 2017) – Four were hospitalized after a head-on collision Sunday evening at Highway 78 and Ysabel Creek Road, according to NBC San Diego.
The accident involving two vehicles occurred around 5:41 p.m near Ysabel Creek Road and San Pasqual Valley Road.
In a report by UT San Diego, police said a 21-year-old driver of a Ford hatchback was going east when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a Dodge SUV driven by a 32-year-old. Both cars were negotiating a curve on the highway at the time.
As per NBC San Diego, two people from separate vehicles needed to be extricated from their cars after being pinned inside. A total of four patients were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The names and condition of the injured parties have not been immediately disclosed at this time
Meanwhile, the crash caused the highway to be closed in both directions.
Authorities will continue to investigate the cause of the incident.
