FONTANA: Head-on Crash Foothill Boulevard and Cherry Avenue; Juan Juarez Arrested
FONTANA, California (March 21, 2017) – According to San Bernardino Sun, a police chase led to a head-on collision injuring several motorists Tuesday morning at or near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Cherry Avenue.
The incident was reported at around 1:30 a.m. when the driver of a stolen vehicle identified as Juan Juarez, 23, led police of a chase inside of a stolen vehicle.
Juarez had been weaving in and out of traffic until he approached the intersection of Foothill and Cherry where traffic came to a completely stop. Juarez decided to cross over into opposite traffic lanes triggering a head-on crash with another vehicle causing a chain reaction collision with other cars.
Jauarez immediately exited his vehicle and fled on foot before being detained a short while later. He was taken to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and is his bail has been set at $250,0000. He had previously been arrested for grand theft auto and burglary, per the article.
Meanwhile, up to seven victims were hurt and hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to very serious.
None of the involved injured motorists have been identified at this time.
