Fernando Buenrostro Dies Oxnard Car Accident
Teen, 18, Dies of Car Accident Injuries
OXNARD (June 18, 2107)- According to the Ventura County Star, a young teenager identified as Fernando Buenrostro, 18, has died of his injuries sustained in a car crash at the hands of a DUI driver.
The collision was reported at around 4:40 a.m. at the intersection of Central and Vineyard avenues.
Fernando Buenrostro had been on his way home from Disneyland after high school graduation event with a 17-year-old passenger. As Buenrostro sat at a red light, a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Mario Arjon slammed into the rear of their vehicle causing their car to slam into a vehicle in front of them.
The collision left both Buenrostro and his passenger with major injuries as both victims were transported to Ventura County Medical Center.
Per the Ventura County Sar, the 18-year-old teen who just graduated Rio Mesa High School sadly passed away Sunday.
Buenrostro’s sister was present at the graduation and received her brother’s diploma on his behalf, according to Rio Mesa High Principal Mark Contreras.
Meanwhile, the female passenger who was in the car with Fernando remains hospitalized but is expected to survive.
Mario Arjon was determined to have been under the influence as he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He has since been released on $50,000 bail but is expected back in court June 30th as he faces gross vehicular manslaughter charges.
