Interstate 10 Freeway Fatal Crash in Pomona
POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2018) – Joseph Texas, 27, was killed today in a crash on the Interstate 10 Freeway in Pomona.
The collision took place about 4:30 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway near Fairplex Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Texas was reportedly driving a Toyota Corolla on the eastbound 10 Freeway when for unknown reasons his car crashed into the back of a big rig truck. The car ended up near the center divider of the freeway where moments later it was struck broadside by an oncoming Toyota Prius that was driving in the carpool lane. Police are trying to piece together what happened and whether or not the driver in the Corolla was inside the vehicle at the time it was hit or if he was standing outside of it. The fatally-injured driver ended up landing on the westbound side of the freeway where he died of his injuries.
Two drivers who were traveling on the westbound side of the freeway collided as they tried to avoid hitting the man.
Police closed down the carpool and No. 1 lanes on both sides of the freeway to investigate the crash.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved as well as witnesses. The family of Joseph Texas may have grounds for a wrongful death claim.
