Police will investigate any accident when someone is injured or killed in an effort to determine liability allowing injured victims the right to hiring their own independent personal injury attorney. A personal injury attorney will take the time to look into whether there were multiple parties or government entities that should be held liable. For example, if a responsible driver was working at the time of an injury or fatal crash, the company who employed them may share the blame. A government that failed to ensure the safety of motorists to poor road design or failure to maintain street lighting, may also have some responsibility.
Based on this news report, there are still several unanswered questions here. Were either of the drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Were either of the drivers negligent in any other way?
