51-Year-Old Groveland Woman Victim in Crash
SONORA (June 14, 2017)- Per the Modesto Bee, Karen Lynn Collins, 51, of Groveland, has been identified as the victim fatally injured following a crash Wednesday afternoon.
CHP received notice of the accident at precisely 2:49 p.m. involving up to three vehicles including a 2006 Honda Civic, a 2004 Dodge Ram, and a 2003 Chevy Silverado.
The driver of the Honda identified as Karen Collins had been headed eastbound don Mono Way before slowing down to make a left turn onto El Ray Lane. As Collins slowed down, she was struck from behind suddenly by the Dodge pickup driven by William Whitehouse, 72.
The impact of the collision caused by Whitehouse pushed Collins’s vehicle into the path of the Chevy pickup driven by Rolland Demartini.
Collins, who had been wearing a seat belt, tragically sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene before the arrival of the fire department and paramedics.
Meanwhile, both Demartini and Whitehouse suffered minor to moderate injuries. Whitehouse declined being taken to a hospital while Demartini was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
Police officials disclosed that they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision and that all drivers were properly restrained with seat belts. CHP will continue their investigation.
