LOS ALAMOS (May 11, 2018)– According to KEYT News, a major injury car accident involving two vehicles was reported Friday morning on southbound Highway 101 involving two vehicles.
Authorities responded to the crash at around 2:00 a.m.
Preliminary investigative efforts have indicated that a motorist operating an unknown vehicle lost control for reasons to be determined causing the driver’s vehicle to roll over.
A second motorist trailing behind attempted to avoid a collision with the vehicle up ahead swerving out of the way which caused their vehicle to overturn as well ultimately coming to rest in northbound lanes.
It remains unclear which driver was in what car but a man and a woman were the involved parties who both sustained major injuries and rushed to trauma centers for immediate medical attention.
The unidentified man was taken to Cottage Hospital while the woman who also remains unidentified was rushed to Marian Hospital.
California Highway Patrol are currently investigating the collision.

A forensic examination of both vehicles involved, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine why the first car lost control and crashed ultimately causing the trailing motorist to overturn their vehicle. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast the first driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with the vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by both vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
