A forensic examination of both vehicles, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which driver ultimately caused the accident. Preliminary investigative efforts have indicated that the Lexus apparently ran the red light. Authorities, however, will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, injured victims not found responsible for an auto accident will be granted the right to file a personal injury lawsuit pending the investigation results. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek monetary recompense for damages which include funeral costs, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.
