Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer
A forensic examination of all involved vehicles, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the surviving family of the motorcyclist may be entitled to a wrongful death claim against the party who ultimately caused the collision pending the results of the investigation. Motorists who were injured and not found responsible may be granted the right to file a personal injury lawsuit as well. Wrongful death and personal injury victims would, therefore, have the right to seek compensation for damages including medical expenses and hospital bills, pain and suffering, funeral costs, lost future income due to absence from work, and loss of companionship.
