Several Injured; Big Rig Involved in Highway 51 Accident
DATE OF COLLISION: Monday, July 23rd
July 24, 2018- According to the California Highway Patrol, an injurious collision involving a semi-truck was reported last night on southbound Highway 51 at or near the N Street on-ramp.
At roughly 10:01 p.m., a black sedan, a silver sedan, a big rig, and potentially a fourth vehicle were involved in the wreck.
Authorities reported that the driver of a black sedan had been allegedly driving recklessly before triggering the accident which caused one of the drivers to overturn their vehicle ultimately clogging up the highway.
At least one person suffered injuries as a result of the crash, likely the driver in the rolled over vehicle who was treated at the scene for moderate injuries before being transported to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the big rig and the other undisclosed vehicle were able to pull over to the right-hand shoulder.
It was unclear whether or not anyone else was injured as those details were not specified.
At least two of the vehicles required the towing services provided by Chimas Towing.
No further information has been revealed thus far as the authorities remained at the scene for at least an hour.

A forensic examination of each vehicle, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine the cause of the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, victims involved in an accident and not found liable are entitled to personal injury lawsuit against the driver pending the results of the investigation. Injured victims may seek compensation for damages including medical expenses and hospital bills and pain and suffering.
