Spencer Wisniewski Auburn Head on Crash on Highway 49
Grass Valley Man, 26, Victim in Deadly Accident
AUBURN (June 16, 2017)- According to the Auburn Journal, a deadly head-on collision was reported Friday morning on Highway 49 in adjacent to Cramer Road.
Authorities were notified of the wreck at 8:30 a.m. between a minivan and a sedan.
Sources speculate that the driver of the minivan had been headed northbound on Highway 49 prior to veering across traffic into southbound lanes directly into the path of a Hyundai Elantra driven by a Grassy Valley man identified as Spencer Wisniewski, 26.
Spencer Wisniewski was tragically declared deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, the driver of the minivan was hurt to a minor degree and taken to a hospital. There were no indications of any other occupants of the vehicle.
Per the Auburn Journal, Sgt. Mark Manz with the California Highway Patrol will man the investigation to determine the ultimate cause of the wreck.
This story will be updated once the fatal victim is identified.
Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the van will be held responsible for causing this collision. There are still several unanswered questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver negligent in any other way? What were the weather conditions and how was the road lighting?
In this particular case where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the family of Mr. Spencer Wisniewski will have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault driver seeking compensation for damages including funeral costs, lost future income, and loss of love and companionship.
