Motorcyclist Badly Hurt in Accident on Shoreline Highway
WESTPORT, MENDOCINO COUNTY (June 7, 2018)– According to the California Highway Patrol, a major injury crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle was reported Thursday morning on Highway 1 also referred to as Shoreline Highway.
Authorities responded to the crash site at 8:57 a.m. between an unidentified motorcyclist and a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
As a result of the collision, the rider suffered serious injuries prompting the arrival of paramedics who eventually notified a medi-flight airship to land at the scene.
Motorcycle Victim Flown to Trauma Center
The victim was eventually flown to a medical center with unspecified injuries and last listed to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, no information was provided on the pickup truck driver who remained present at the scene following the collision. There was no indication whether or not the motorist was hurt.
Southbound lanes on Highway 1 remained shut down for several hours while CHP officials investigated and perused the scene for evidence to help formulate a traffic collision report.
Both the motorcycle and the pickup required towing services via Fort Bragg Towing.

California Highway Patrol will carry out a forensic examination of both the vehicle and the motorcycle, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident.
