Woman Killed in El Cajon Accident on Mollison Avenue
Pedestrian Woman, 54, Fatally Struck by Vehicle
EL CAJON (June 27, 2017)- According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a deadly pedestrian versus auto collision was reported Monday evening on Mollison Avenue just north of Main Street.
El Cajon PD received notification of the incident at roughly 8:45 p.m. when a woman only being identified as a 54-year-old was struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man driving an Acura.
Per the Union-Tribune, the woman had been walking with a friend about a block away from her home before being hit by the young man who had been driving northbound on Mollison.
The 54-year-old victim sadly did not survive the collision and was pronounced at the scene.
Meanwhile, the friend the victim as accompanied by was not struck and therefore uninjured.
Grocery bags and items were noted to have been scattered all across the roadway while authorities perused the scene.
The driver was also uninjured as the collision remains under investigation at this time.
Based on this news report, there are still several unanswered questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver negligent in any other way? We trust that El Cajon Police officials will look into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, the family of the woman may be entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault parties seeking compensation for damages including funeral costs and loss of love and companionship.
