Aaron Folmsbee, 47, ID’d as Suspect in Placerville Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 50
PLACERVILLE, CA (April 26, 2022) – Officers detained Aaron Folmsbee after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 50 in Placerville.
Police determined that the 47-year-old Cameron Park man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred on Saturday.
The incident began when Aaron Folmsbee was driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee on Highway 50 near Broadway Drive in Placerville.
Police said he then struck two people riding a motorcycle on the eastbound side of the highway. The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident took place on April 23 at around 6:47 p.m.
1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Wreck
Both riders ended up lying on the ground as a result of the wreck. The passenger, 60-year-old Pollock Pines resident Lori Hooper, died at the scene.
The male operator of the bike sustained major injuries following the incident. An air ambulance took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police arrested Aaron Folmsbee for DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after the crash.
Officers booked him into the El Dorado County Jail in lieu of a $175,000 bail and soon released him. The Placerville DUI crash is still under investigation.
