3 Killed after Car, 2 Trucks Collide on I-10 Freeway in Ontario
ONTARIO, Calif. (June 16, 2020) — Rachel Miller, 27, of San Dimas, Aubree Hardy, 5, of San Dimas, and Aaron Hardy, 25, of Fontana, were killed in a collision involving two semi-trucks Tuesday morning in the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway in Ontario.
The collision took place about 9:30 a.m. at Archibald Avenue, near Ontario International Airport, according to a California Highway Patrol.
The driver of a semi-truck reportedly crashed into the 2002 Chrysler Voyager occupied by the victims.
The minivan had been stopped in traffic when it was struck by the big rig traveling about 60 mph. The truck driver was in heavy traffic and never stepped on the brakes prior to impact.
Upon impact, the minivan was pushed forward into the trailer of another truck. The Ontario Fire Department responded to the scene, but unfortunately all three people in the minivan were confirmed dead.
Police issued a SigAlert and closed all eastbound lanes for several hours.
Two of the vehicles required towing from the scene.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into the cause of the collision.
