 Abraham Velasco Faces Murder Charges for North Hills Crash on Nordhoff StreetLOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2021) – Abraham Espinosa Velasco, 29, was arrested on Wednesday following a deadly North Hills crash on West Nordhoff Street.

The young man was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of murder following the fatal hit-and-run crash early Tuesday that killed a woman and badly-injured a man, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The suspect is being held on $2 million bail, according to the Los Angeles sheriff’s department.

According to the LAPD, the collision happened about 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5th. Abraham Velasco was allegedly driving a black 2016 Range Rover and speeding northbound on Hayvenhurst Avenue. Witnesses told authorities he ran a red light before crashing into a 2018 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Nordhoff Street.

Next, the Range Rover struck a gray Honda Civic and a white Toyota Tacoma.

Eventually, it came to a stop in the middle of the street.

Police Seek Passenger Who Fled Crash Scene

Paramedics responded and pronounced a 56-year-old woman driving the Honda dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner has not released her name. Meanwhile, paramedics treated the driver of the Toyota Camry  at the scene for complaints of pain.

Abraham Velasco and his male passenger exited the Range Rover and fled on foot. When fire and police officials arrived they were gone.

Police have not located the passenger yet, but they are working to find the man. The passenger is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. At the time of the collision he was wearing a
dark track jacket, blue jeans and black shoes, police said.
