Major Injury Solo Collision in Acton
ACTON, Calif. (July 7, 2023) – Two people were injured in a Fourth of July car accident on Sierra Highway near Hacienda Road in Acton.
A driver and passenger in a pickup truck crashed into a fire hydrant on Sierra Highway due to unknown circumstances, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The solo-vehicle crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4th in the unincorporated Acton area, the report said. The area where the crash took place is parallel to the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, the CHP report said.
Two Injured in Acton Accident on Sierra Highway
At least one of the two people was ejected from the Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck that wound up roughly 30 feet down an embankment, the Antelope Valley Press reports.
The vehicle had major damage due to the collision and it also sheared the hydrant off its base leading to flooded lanes on Sierra Highway.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department landed a helicopter and transported both patients to a hospital for treatment of moderate and major injuries.
The cause of the Acton accident on Sierra Highway remains under investigation.
