Sonoma, CA (April 16, 2021) – A suspected DUI crash that occurred last weekend resulted in deadly injuries to Adalberto “Beto” Mendez, the Press Democrat reported.

According to the article published online, Adalberto Mendez and his brother were driving a Nissan Frontier heading south on Highway 1. In the area near Valley Ford Road, the Nissan collided with a northbound Dodge truck. The first incident took place around 11:30 p.m.

Our sources indicated a third vehicle, a Ford Ranger, failed to stop and hit the wrecked cars.

When emergency teams arrived at the site, they found the Nissan occupied by Adalberto Mendez engulfed in flames. Authorities said Adalberto Mendez was unable to escape and sadly died. Meanwhile, the passenger in the Nissan, Raul Mendez, managed to self-extricate and survived the crash with serious injuries.

Following the investigation, officers arrested the Dodge driver: 47-year-old Joseph Mantua; and the Ford driver, 25-year-old Winter Nason. Detectives determined both drivers were intoxicated at the time of the catastrophic incident.

Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
