Adam Milavetz, 38, Kills Bicyclist in Balboa Park DUI Crash
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 21, 2021) – Authorities detained Adam Milavetz after a fatal DUI crash on Pershing Drive in Balboa Park.
Police determined that the 38-year-old man was under the influence of drugs when the collision took place on Tuesday morning.
The incident began when Adam Milavetz was driving a 2011 Prius north on Pershing Drive in Balboa Park. At the same time, Laura Shinn was riding a bicycle in the same direction.
Police said Adam Milavetz veered into a bike lane and hit the 57-year-old woman from behind. He struck the bicyclist just south of the Morley Field Disc Golf Course.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found Laura Shinn unresponsive on the ground. She ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel rushed the cyclist to a hospital, where she died. The San Diego Union-Tribune wrote that the collision occurred on July 20 at about 7:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, police arrested Adam Milavetz on suspicion of charges including murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI. They soon booked him into jail.
The Balboa Park DUI crash is still under investigation.
