Adan Reyes, 34, Suspect in San Luis Obispo County Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 46

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (August 1, 2021) – Authorities detained Adan Reyes  after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County.

The California Highway Patrol determined that the 34-year-old Paso Robles man was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.

The incident happened when Adan Reyes was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram east on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County.  At the same time, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was going west.

Alejandro Angeles-Pacheco, 41, Killed in Crash

CHP said he then drifted into oncoming traffic and struck the Silverado head-on. The Ram flipped onto its passenger side while the Chevrolet went off the road due to the impact.

The driver of the Silverado, 41-year-old Santa Maria resident Alejandro Angeles-Pacheco, died at the scene. KSBY News wrote that the collision took place on July 31 at about 11:50 p.m.

The two passengers of the Chevy sustained unspecified injuries as a result of the wreck. Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested and booked Adan Reyes at the San Luis Obispo County Jail for DUI.

Officers forced Highway 46 E to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The tragic Highway 46 crash is still under investigation.
