1 Killed, 1 Injured in Hemet Car Crash
HEMET (July 24, 2017) – A motorist was hospitalized after a traffic accident that killed an alleged DUI driver on Stetson Avenue last week, July 20, according to The Press Enterprise.
The collision involving two vehicles occurred at about 7:24 p.m., east of Walden Weaver Road.
As per the article, coroner’s office and police said 44-year-old Adelina Rodriguez was driving a 2001 Geo Metro at about 45 to 50 mph east on Stetson Avenue when her vehicle allegedly veered from left to right and entered the oncoming westbound lane.
Rodgriguez continued east and crossed into the oncoming lane again near the entrance to the airport. The Geo Metro then crashed into a 2001 Toyota Camry which was traveling west at the time.

Officers affirmed that the driver of the Toyota was transported to a local trauma center with unspecified injuries but is expected to survive. The name of the victim was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar where she died. The Ontario woman was suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when the wreck took place. The investigation is ongoing.
The driver injured may have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit if the investigation determines and justifies the involvement of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in this incident. DUI is a serious crime that has several corresponding criminal penalties, and the kinds of the charges to be filed depend on several factors such as the prior convictions of the alleged DUI driver, the severity of the offense and the level of intoxication. Causing an injury while under the influence is also a huge element that determines the penalties the suspect may face upon conviction.
