Teenage Pedestrian Killed by Suspected Drunken Driver in Orange
ORANGE, Calif. (May 20, 2021) — Aden Uriostegui, 19, of Orange, died in a pedestrian accident last night involving a suspected drunk driver at North Tustin Street and East Heim Avenue in Orange.
The collision happened about 10:09 p.m. on May 19th as the teenager was walking home from work at a nearby Starbucks, according to the Orange County Sheriff Coroner.
The suspect, identified as Sitani Pinomi, 39, was driving a white 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck. He allegedly ran through a red traffic light and struck the victim on the southbound side of the roadway.
The driver stopped and got out of his truck. Witnesses told authorities he approached the dying teen and shook him while telling him to “wake up,” according to County News TV.
Police arrived at the crash scene and conducted a serious of field sobriety tests on the driver. Police arrested Sitani Pinomi on suspicion of murder due to his previous DUI conviction.
Sitani Pinomi‘s driver’s license was suspended after a previous DUI conviction in Los Angeles County, records show. Additionally, the suspect has a felony warrant for false imprisonment issued in Sacramento County.
The coroner identified the teenage pedestrian as Aden Uriostegui on their website.
