DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Irwindale Fatal Crash ID’d as Adrian Ortega, 21
IRWINDALE, CA (March 27, 2021) – Authorities detained Adrian Ortega after a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash in Irwindale.
Police determined that the 21-year-old La Puente man was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred on Saturday.
The incident began when Adrian Ortega was driving east on Huntington Drive in Irwindale. Police said he then struck a bicyclist in the 2900 block of Huntington near Foothill Boulevard.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and found the cyclist left lying on the ground near the bicycle debris. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Adrian Ortega did not stop to render aid to the bicyclist and fled the area. Police later stopped a vehicle near Francisquito and Sunset avenues in West Covina.
Authorities soon arrested Ortega on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter, felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. They set his bail at $100,000
