Ahkenya Ragland Sr. Killed, 2 Men Injured in Oakland Hit-and-Run at 98th and Bancroft
OAKLAND (May 18, 2018) – A man killed after an alleged hit-and-run crash at 98th and Bancroft avenues early Thursday has been identified as Ahkenya Ragland Sr., according to The Mercury News.
The coroner’s office said the 46-year-old victim died after a deadly collision at about 2:30 a.m. in the intersection.
As per the article, police affirmed that Ragland was in the front seat of a 1983 Ford Mustang which was headed south on 98th Avenue. As the Mustang had the green light, it drove into the intersection where it was broadsided by a 2014 Honda Civic.
Stolen Car Involved in Suspected Hit-and-Run Accident
The Civic was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed east on Bancroft Avenue when its driver ran a red light and struck the Mustang.
Officials added that the 24-year-old man driving the Ford was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. His name and condition at this time remained unknown.
Meanwhile, the operator of the Honda fled on foot and abandoned the car which was reportedly stolen out of San Francisco. A 29-year-old man riding as a passenger in the Civic at the time was hospitalized with a broken leg.
