Aida Villavicencio, 86, Fatal Victim in Car Accident at Buckingham Road and 39th Street Saturday
Baldwin Hills, CA (June 27, 2021) – Aida Villavicencio, an 86-year-old woman, died following a suspected DUI collision at the intersection of Buckingham Road and 39th Street.
The KTLA5 News reported a male driver crashed into the back of a Los Angeles police patrol car. The accident took place near Hobart and Martin Luther King boulevards. According to the article published online, officers subsequently got out of their car and tried to approach the male driver. However, the suspect accelerated and drove west on 39th Street.
Authorities said the male driver eventually lost control of the car while traveling at a high rate of speed. The suspect apparently veered off the roadway as it made a turn at the intersection of Buckingham Road.
The car plowed through the bedroom of a single-story home in Baldwin Hills.
Shortly after 1:20 a.m., emergency teams arrived at the site and found two residents underneath the suspect vehicle. Paramedics reportedly performed life-saving measures to the female victim, but she sadly succumbed to her trauma and died. Officials later identified the deceased as 86-year-old Aida Villavicencio.
Man, 90, Seriously Injured After Car Plows Into Baldwin Hills Home [June 26]
A second victim, the 90-year-old husband of the woman, sustained life-threatening injuries from the incident. An ambulance rushed the patient to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators later said the man behind the wheel of the SUV that crashed into the Baldwin Hills home was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
