Woman, 19, Killed; 3 Men Injured in Solo Crash
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2024) — Aileen Ruiz, 19, died and three men were injured in a rollover crash on a connector road between the 134 Freeway and Interstate 5 interchange on Sunday morning near Griffith Park.
The deadly crash occurred at the eastbound 134 and southbound I-5 freeways at 12:50 a.m. on Sept. 29th, in Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported two of the injured men were treated at the hospital for major injuries and the third had minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man driving the gray Honda sedan with three passengers reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal guardrail on the right shoulder. The vehicle overturned onto its roof and one person was thrown out of the vehicle and two others were trapped. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate those stuck in the car. The fourth person managed to exit on their own.
Investigators are working on the case.
