Man, 33, Identified as Pedestrian Struck on Interstate 5 Freeway
ENCINITAS, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2025) — Akash V Kasibhatla, 33, died New Year’s Day in a pedestrian accident on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Birmingham Drive in Encinitas.
The traffic accident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was reportedly standing near the center divider of Interstate 5 when he allegedly walked into traffic lanes and was struck by a motorist.
Paramedics from the Encinitas Fire Department responded, but the man suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla sedan pulled off the freeway and stopped in a nearby parking lot. The windshield had major damage from the accident.
