Bicycle Rider Injured in Alameda Crash at Fernside and Garfield
ALAMEDA, CA (September 16, 2022) – A boy was hospitalized after a bicycle crash at Fernside Boulevard and Garfield Avenue in Alameda.
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 9:40 a.m.
Alameda police said a vehicle struck a boy riding a bicycle for an unknown reason in the Island’s East End of the city. The driver hit him at the intersection of Fernside Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
Child Hit by Vehicle
The child, about 10 years old, fell and the rear rim of his bike ended up bent due to the impact of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found the bicyclist who sustained substantial abrasions on his lower left leg as a result of the accident. Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital in Santa Rosa for further aid.
The report did not release the condition of the wounded party at this time. Meanwhile, police added that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced the area of Fernside and Garfield to shut down after the collision. The cause of the Alameda bicycle crash is still under investigation.
