Alani Aguilar, 24, Killed in Santa Rosa Crash on Highway 12
SANTA ROSA, CA (August 12, 2022) – A crash on Highway 12 killed Alani Aguilar in the city of Santa Rosa.
The sheriff’s office identified the 24-year-old Santa Rosa woman as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Alani Aguilar was driving a Nissan Versa east on Highway 12 in Santa Rosa. She was the last in a line of vehicles backed up from the on-ramp to southbound Highway 101.
At the same time, a Safeway delivery box truck was traveling in the same direction at about 50 to 55 mph. For an unknown reason, the driver of the truck failed to see the slower traffic in front.
Box Truck Hits Several Cars
In the process, the vehicle slammed into the rear of the Nissan. The California Highway Patrol said the two crashed near Dutton Avenue.
The truck then hit four other vehicles and rolled onto its side. The Press Democrat and Sonoma News wrote that the accident occurred on August 10 at around 8 a.m.
Alani Aguilar sustained serious injuries and her car overturned as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she soon died.
CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 12 to shut down for about two and a half hours following the wreck. The cause of the Santa Rosa crash is still under investigation.
