Car Plows Into Taco Shop on R Street Near Olive Avenue
Merced, CA (May 23, 2021) – Police arrested Alejandro Calderon, a 44-year-old man, in relation with a car accident on R Street Sunday.
The Merced Golden Wire News reported Alejandro Calderon was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling on R Street. In the 3115 block of the roady, just west of West Olive Avenue, the driver allegedly intentionally allowed the car to drive towards the Jose’s Taco Shop in Merced.
Authorities said the force from the impact resulted in damages to the gas line of the building. Fortunately, the business did not suffer any structural damage.
At the moment, the precise time when the incident took place have not been discussed thus far.

Investigators later determined alcohol contributed to the car crash. Furthermore, Alejandro Calderon reportedly fled the scene but investigators located suspect in the 1100 block of West Olive Avenue. Officers then took Alejandro Calderon into custody for driving under the influence; driving on suspended driver’s license, and hit-and-run.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
