Police Searching for Hit-and-run Driver in White Work Truck
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2018) – Alena Rey Gretencord, 22, of Anaheim, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday in the 5500 block of East Second Street in Naples, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The Cal State Long Beach student was struck by a white pickup truck about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28th. She was reportedly walking on the center median near Tivoli Drive when she tumbled into the No. 1 lane of eastbound Second Street. She fell into the path of the oncoming pickup truck. The driver initially stopped briefly, but then continued driving eastbound as they fled the scene.
Gretencord was rushed to a hospital, but later died about 3 a.m.
The Long Beach Police Department is heading up the investigation. They believe the suspect’s vehicle was a white work truck, possibly a Ford F-150 pickup with a silver tool box in the bed and an emblem on the driver’s side.
The victim’s father told reporters his daughter was studying industrial design at Cal State Long Beach.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the suspect should contact the Long Beach police at (562) 570-7358.
