Double Fatal Collision on Highway 129 Near Old Chittenden Road
Watsonville, CA (June 24, 2022) – Alex Mascarenoluque, and Nestor Emmanuel Beltran Quiroa died following a car accident that occurred on Highway 129.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel News reported two vehicles collided on the highway near the Old Chittenden Road in Watsonville. According to the article published online, 32-year-old Mascarenoluque was behind the wheel of a 2008 Honda Ridgeline heading east on SR-129. Officials mentioned the man had three passengers at the time. When the Honda approached the area near Old Chittenden Road, it crash head-on into a westbound 2016 GMC. At this time, detectives continue to determine which vehicle veered into the opposite lanes.
Shortly after 3:45 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the crash site. First responders found two occupants in the Honda suffering in serious injuries. Authorities mentioned Alex Mascarenoluque died at he hospital, while one passenger passed away at the scene. The California Highway Patrol group identified the second fatal victim as 20-year-old Nestor Emmanuel Beltran Quiroa.
Per local news source, seven other parties–including three juveniles, sustained injuries as a result of the wreck.
Detectives continue to work at this time to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident on Highway 129 in Watsonville.
