Driver Hospitalized After Collision Near Atwater Boulevard Thursday
Atwater, CA (March 11, 2022) – Alex Ramos, a 42-year-old man, suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 99.
The Merced Sun-Star News reported Ramos was behind the wheel of a Mercedes sedan traveling on the highway Thursday morning. When the car approached the area near Atwater Boulevard, the sedan collided with two big rigs.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Mercedes sedan ended up wedged in between the two trucks. Shortly after 7:50 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. First responders found Alex Ramos pinned in the mangled car.
Major Injury Car, Truck Accident on Highway 99 in Atwater
According to the article published online, firefighters spent approximately 30 minutes extricating the victim. After emergency crews freed Ramos, a helicopter transported him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the operators of the big rigs involved in the crash.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning to investigate exactly how and why the crash happened on Highway 99 in Atwater.
