Alex Shilvock, 26, Seriously Injured in Buena Park Crash on 5 Freeway
BUENA PARK, CA (March 28, 2023) – A fatal crash left Alex Shilvock seriously injured on the 5 Freeway in Buena Park.
The KTLA News and NBC San Diego identified the 26-year-old man as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Monday.
The incident began when Alex Shilvock was driving a white Toyota Matrix south on the 5 Freeway in Buena Park. At the same time, a black Honda was stopped for an unknown reason in the No. 2 Lane.
The Toyota then collided with the rear of the Honda near Beach Boulevard. Alex Shilvock and the two male occupants of the Matrix exchanged information following the accident.
Multiple Cars Collide
After some time, a third vehicle approached and slammed into the three men. The California Highway Patrol said the car also slammed into the other two cars.
The collision occurred on March 27 shortly before 11 p.m. Alex Shilvock sustained major injuries, including a punctured lung, broken ribs and lacerations as a result of the crash.
Paramedics rushed him to the UC-Irvine Medical Center for treatment. Medical personnel transported the driver of the Toyota to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
CHP confirmed that the passenger of the Matrix, a 33-year-old San Diego man, died at the scene of the accident. Officers forced the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Buena Park crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 714-622-3600.
