ANAHEIM, CA (May 5, 2021) – A car crash near Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue killed Alexander Smiller in Anaheim.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department identified the 63-year-old Los Angeles man as one of the victims of the fatal wreck on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Alexander Smiller and two other men were riding a black Kia Soul, an Uber, in Anaheim. They were exiting the parking lot of a hookah lounge.
At the same time, a white Mercedes-Benz sedan was going north on Brookhurst Street. For an unknown reason, the Mercedes then hit the Kia near the intersection with Orange Avenue.
2 Other Men Dead in Suspected Hit-and-Run
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced Alexander Smiller and the other men dead at the scene. KTLA News and NBC Los Angeles reported the accident on May 4 at about 2:50 a.m.
Police found the Mercedes on fire and abandoned as a result of the collision. Its two occupants, both women, rode another car and left the area.
The two women ended up in a hospital with major injuries. Witnesses told police that the motorist who took them was a Good Samaritan and offered help to the involved parties.
However, authorities are investigating the Anaheim crash as a hit-and-run since the relationship between the driver and the women has not been yet determined.
Speed played a role in the collision. Anyone with information can call the police at 714-765-1861.
