Thermal Man Killed in Hit-and-run Crash is Identified
INDIO, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2023) — Alfonso Andrade, 54, of Thermal, died in an Indio pedestrian accident last Thursday night on Grapefruit Boulevard in Riverside County.
The deadly crash occurred at around 11:35 p.m. on Dec. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
MyNewsLA reports a driver struck the victim in the 54000 block of Grapefruit Boulevard while the Thermal man was already on the ground. The motorist saw taillights from the driver who reportedly struck the person before them, but they were unable to get any details, the CHP reports.
Police responded to the scene, but unfortunately Alfonso Andrade did not survive after suffering major injuries, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation into the pedestrian accident on Grapefruit Boulevard. They are searching for the suspect’s vehicle with possible front-end damage, but there are no further details at this time.
