Alfonso Gaspar, 58, Killed in Bakersfield Crash Near Weedpatch Highway and Smith
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 29, 2021) – Alfonso Gaspar was killed after a DUI crash near Weedpatch Highway and Smith Road in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 58-year-old Maricopa man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place last week on Friday.
The incident began when Alfonso Abarca Gaspar was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla north on Weedpatch Highway in Bakersfield. At the same time, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was going south.
CHP said the driver of the Jeep, 38-year-old Marcia Luqueleyson, crossed the solid yellow line into the northbound lane. In the process, the Lamont woman hit the Toyota head-on.

The two cars crashed north of Smith Road. Alfonso Gaspar and a passenger riding in the Cherokee died at the scene of the crash.
The Kern Golden Empire and 23 ABC News wrote that the accident occurred on November 26 at around 2:30 a.m. Firefighters extricated Marcia Luqueleyson from the wreckage.
Paramedics took her to the Kern Medical for treatment of major injuries. CHP determined that the woman was under the influence of alcohol when she struck the other vehicle.
They soon arrested her on suspicion of DUI. The Bakersfield DUI crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP Bakersfield at (661) 396-6600.
