Man, 60, Arrested on DUI Charges; Woman Killed
LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 18, 2022) – Alfonzo Star, 60, of Lakeview Terrace, was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI after an April 18th crash on the Interstate 710 Freeway in Long Beach.
Police charged the Lakeview Terrace man with driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP reported.
Tiffany Haynes, 32, of Los Angeles, died at the scene of the multi-vehicle collision about 1 a.m. on Monday, April 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach at the transition to the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway, according to the CHP.
Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-710 Freeway
Tiffany Haynes was driving a 2013 Toyota sedan that became stopped in the #2 lane of (the) northbound 710 Freeway, police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Alfonzo Star was heading northbound on the freeway in a 2002 Chevrolet. His vehicle allegedly rear-ended the Toyota.
Next, a driver in a big rig truck stopped with his vehicle partially on the right shoulder of the freeway. The truck was also partially in the No. 3 lane next to where the Toyota came to rest, the CHP reported.
Finally, another driver in a 2018 Ford swerved to the right and hit both the Toyota and the big rig.
Police determined that Alfonzo Star was intoxicated and confirmed his DUI arrest. Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash.
