LUCERNE VALLEY, California (January 6, 2015) –– Alfred Moreau, 69, of Lucerne was killed Sunday night when he was hit by two drivers in a pedestrian accident on Old Woman Springs Road, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
The traffic accident was reported about 6:43 p.m. Mr. Moreau was crossing the roadway after picking up his dinner at the China House restaurant, according to the Victor Valley News. After he was hit by one driver and was lying in the roadway, a second driver struck the victim. The drivers of both vehicles pulled over and remained at the scene where they were interviewed by police.
Paramedics responded to the pedestrian accident and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, but he later died of his injuries at 7:38 p.m., the report said. Mr. Moreau was a Vietnam Veteran who had moved to Southern California from Kansas City, the newspaper reported.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up an investigation into liability for this man’s death and will eventually issue a report with their findings. This report will be available to all parties involved including the family of the victim.
