Alfredo Gaspar and Juana Gaspar Injured, Man Killed in 8 Freeway Car Accident

IMPERIAL COUNTY (March 12, 2018) – A traffic collision along Interstate 8 Freeway killed one and injured three others on February 20, according to The Desert Review.

As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 60-year-old Alfredo Gaspar was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma north on the 8 Freeway with a 2008 Nissan Altima traveling behind him.

The driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old El Centro resident Emanuel Uribe, for an unknown reason lost control of his car and collided with the Toyota. The cause of the crash forced the Toyota to overturn on the dirt shoulder, just east of Barbara Worth Road.

CHP affirmed that a man riding in the Toyota at the time was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Gaspar was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center while his two other passengers were transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

One of the injured patients has been identified as 57-year-old Juana Diaz Gaspar. All three survivors of the overturned vehicle are from Bell, California.

Meanwhile, officials reported that Uribe did not require hospitalizion. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
