2 Women, 1 Dog Dead After Aircraft Accident Near Highway 68 at Monterra Ranch Subdivision
Monterey, CA (July 14, 2021) – Alice Diane Emig, and Mary Ellen Carlin both suffered fatal injuries following a plane crash near the Monterey Regional Airport Tuesday.
The KSBW News reported Mary Carlin, of Pacific Grove, was piloting the plane. Preliminary investigation revealed the female pilot planned to fly 61-year-old Alice Emig to Sacramento. Officials mentioned Mary Carlin was from Pacific Grove; while Alice Emig was from Rancho Cordova.
Due to an unknown reason, the Cessna 421 plunged down for an unknown reason near Highway 68. The aircraft crash landed into a home at the Monterra Ranch subdivision. Both Alice Emig and Mary Carlin died as a result of the incident.
The unfortunate event took place at about 10:45 a.m.
According to the article published online, personnel from the Monterey County Regional Fire District responded to the site. Firefighters worked extensively to contain, and eventually put out the fire from the wreckage.
Authorities mentioned the dog of Alice Emig also died in the crash.
At this time, the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate several factors surrounding the fatal plane crash in Monterey.
