Alicia Del Carmen Escobar, 69, Killed in Sutter County Crash on Highway 99
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (May 2, 2023) – Alicia Del Carmen Escobar was killed after a car crash on Highway 99 in Sutter County.
The Sheriff’s Office identified the 69-year-old Yuba City woman as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place last week on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Alicia Del Carmen Escobar was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4 south on Highway 99 in Sutter County. At the same time, a 2016 Toyota Tacoma was going north.
2 Cars Collide
For an unknown reason, the Tacoma crossed into the southbound lanes just south of Oswald Road. In the process, the pickup truck slammed head-on into the SUV.
The Appeal Democrat and The Sacramento Bee wrote that the collision occurred on April 26 shortly after 8:30 p.m. Both Alicia Del Carmen Escobar and the driver of the Tacoma died at the scene of the crash.
Deputies named the other motorist involved in the accident as 74-year-old Gregory Allen Wood, of Brentwood. The cause of the Sutter County crash is still under investigation.
Officers the southbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down for about two hours following the wreck. Anyone with information can call the Yuba-Sutter area CHP office at 530-645-6200.
