Alicia Whitmore, 24, Badly Injured in Yuba City Crash at Highway 99 and Stewart Road
YUBA CITY, CA (November 12, 2021) – Alicia Whitmore was badly injured after a car crash at Highway 99 and Stewart Road in Yuba City.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 24-year-old Sacramento woman as the victim in the wreck which took place on Wednesday.
The incident began when Alicia Whitmore was driving a 2016 Mazda in the No. 2 lane of northbound Highway 99 in Yuba City. At the same time, a 2018 Toyota was going south.
For an unknown reason, the Toyota entered the left turn lane as it approached Stewart Road and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
Woman, 93, Killed in Wreck
In the process, the car went directly into the path of the Mazda and a 2005 Lexus also traveling north. The Mazda collided with the Toyota in the intersection.
CHP said the Toyota spun out of control and then slammed into the right rear corner of the Lexus. The Appeal Democrat wrote that the accident occurred on November 10 at around 9:30 a.m.
Alicia Whitmore sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed her and the driver of the Toyota, a 93-year-old woman, to the Adventist Health/Rideout for treatment.
Officers confirmed that the elderly woman died. They added that the motorist in the Lexus, 27-year-old Sacramento resident John Fletcher, ended up unharmed.
The cause of the Yuba City crash is still under investigation.
