San Diego Medical Examiner IDs Bicyclist Killed in Solana Beach Hit-and-run Crash
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 29, 2021) — Allen Hunter, 75, of San Diego, died last week in a Solana Beach bicycle accident on Pacific Coast Highway.
The crash happened about 10:34 a.m. on June 22nd at the Solana Beach intersection, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The coroner report stated Allen Hunter was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle. Bystanders called 911 for help. Meanwhile, the motorist fled the scene without stopping to help the gravely injured man.
Bicyclist Dies at La Jolla Hospital on June 22
Paramedics transported the injured rider to the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Emergency Department for evaluation. However, later the same day about 6:26 p.m., Allen Hunter died at the La Jolla hospital. The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, according to the report.
Additionally, the crash remains under investigation by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
