Passenger Killed in Crash on SR-4 Monday
MARTINEZ, Calif. (July 7, 2020) – Alma Olivares, 18, of Pittsburg, died and a man was hurt in a solo-vehicle accident Monday on Highway 4 in Martinez.
The teenager was a passenger in a 2014 Jeep Laredo traveling eastbound State Route 4, just east of Cummings Skyway.
The 28-year-old man driving the Jeep reportedly veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The crash took place about 9:40 p.m. and prompted a response by paramedics.
Olivares suffered major injuries and died at the scene and the driver suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile, officials reported the driver was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
