DUI Driver Alonso Gonzalez Moreno, 23, Hits Motorcyclist in Sacramento Crash
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 21, 2021) – Authorities detained Alonso Gonzalez Moreno after a DUI crash that killed a motorcyclist in Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 23-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Saturday.
The incident happened on February 20 when Alonso Gonzalez Moreno was driving a Chevy Tahoe north on Franklin Boulevard. He was traveling between 80-90 mph.
At the same time, a man was riding a BMW S1000 motorcycle south on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Police said Moreno then ran a red light at the intersection.

In the process, he struck the motorcyclist who was trying to turn onto Franklin. The rider ended up thrown from his bike onto the sidewalk as a result of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
According to the ABC 10 News and CBS Sacramento, officers reported the wreck at around 10:30 p.m. The Chevy Tahoe sustained significant front-end damage following the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities soon arrested and booked Moreno at the Sacramento County Jail. They charged him with felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
