Alpine: Car Crashes Into Fire Truck on Tavern RoadDeputy Hurt in Possible DUI Collision on Tavern Road Monday

Alpine, CA (February 21, 2022) – A sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on Tavern Road Monday morning.

The FOX5 News published an article online reporting personnel from the Alpine Fire District received reports of a medical emergency that occurred at the Chevron gas station. Firefighters responded to the incident in the 1145 block of Tavern Road. When officials arrived, they spotted a drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle parked in the area.

Our sources indicated authorities confronted the man behind the wheel of the suspicious vehicle. Deputies reportedly asked the driver to step out the vehicle. However, the suspect accelerated backwards and ended up crashing into the fire truck. The suspect also hit a deputy in the process.

Due to the extent of injuries of the officer, paramedics transported them to a local hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

Officers at the scene managed to detain the driver without incident. At this time, detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the collision on Tavern Road in Alpine.
